A Thought for this Holiday season

Published December 14th, 2009 in Uncategorized | No Comments »

Do you remember the 60’s song about Alfie, the lyrics of which begin, “What’s it all about, Alfie? What’s it all about when you sort it out, Alfie? The Christmas holiday season in the United States generally inspires one’s thoughts to that question, “What’s it all about?” I say it’s about the mystery of something greater than us. It provokes that thought today, and it did at the time of the Founding Fathers of this nation.

.” The Declaration of Independence makes four explicit references to our nation’s reliance on God.

Which Piece of the Puzzle Are You?

Published December 12th, 2009 in Political Thoughts | No Comments »

Have you ever given any thought to whether or not you are actually classified as a Republican, a Democrat, an Independent or Whocares?  And why is this important in the first place?

The Republican Party Platform

The most comprehensive information I could find comes from the 2008 platform.  I’ll try to shorten the 67 pages of the PDF file for you. (more…)

Turkey and Dressing and Cranberry Sauce

God has blessed me in ways I would never have thought possible.  He has provided gifts that I never knew I wanted or needed.  I am very thankful for all these things, of course.

As I write this, I find myself being most thankful for family and friends who now reach from California through Arizona, to Texas, up to Kansas, across to Illinois, down to Louisiana, up to Maryland, Massachusetts, New York, down through North Carolina and then to Florida.

I wish for all of you the celebration of your thankfulness for God’s blessings in your own circle of family and friends. (more…)

Bad Advertisement for the GOP

Published November 16th, 2009 in Political Thoughts | No Comments »

You have good candidates who lose political races because of their stance on the issues.  You also have bad candidates who lose political races because of their stance on the issues.  Then you have bad candidates who drop out of political races because they are losing.  When these candidates promptly turn against the party that got them there, you have a turncoat.  But when this same candidate goes on a liberal talk show on CNN and says that she plans to remain a Republican instead of doing the honest thing and officially switching to the Democrat Party, you have a really bad advertisement for the GOP. Support Your Local Conservative

A gentleman I know is really quite fed up with the Republican Party and the nonsense they have been promoting as candidates and issues recently.  He received a request for funds from his Congressional District in the form of a survey.

Like most of us who have formerly supported Republican candidates, he has come to the same conclusion others have.  “You’re not playing, so we’re not paying.”

He penned a letter and returned it in the survey envelope.  He gave me permission to reprint it here: (more…)

She Said WHAT???

Published November 5th, 2009 in Political Thoughts | No Comments »

I just heard that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has decided not to put her atrocious health care catastrophe on the Internet for the people to read before there is a vote taken.

She doesn’t think we are smart enough to know what it says?  She thinks we wouldn’t be willing to at least scan read through the well over 2000 pages?  Does she really think that she can sneak this by without so much as a ‘by your leave” from the American people?

What is this woman’s problem?! (more…)

My Vote Doesn’t Count…..Does It?

Published November 3rd, 2009 in Political Thoughts | No Comments »

You have heard this as often as I have.  You may even have said it.  When I first started learning about the Electoral College, I too began to wonder just how much my vote counts.

I’m older now.  I’ve voted in many elections and I have seen my choices win and lose.  I have come to a startling conclusion.  If I don’t vote, how do I know my vote wouldn’t have counted?

We have a unique political system in the United States.  Our Founding Fathers and many who have followed in their footsteps have seen to that for us.  Our Constitution sets requirements for national elections and when they are ignored and/or abused, we have absolute chaos much like we have now in Washington, DC. When Three is the NOT Lowest Common Denominator

Published October 28th, 2009 in Uncategorized | No Comments »

Three children have nine cupcakes.  Nine divided by three equals three.  Each child will have three cupcakes.

Equal distribution works every time, right?

Pretend two of the children are selfish.  They each want to have the most cupcakes so the two selfish children each steal a cupcake from the other child.  Now there are two children who have four cupcakes each and one totally unhappy child.

America’s Grand Jury Process

Americans are given the right of free speech in the First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States – the first of the Bill of Rights without which the Constitution might not have been ratified.

Sarah Palin uses her First Amendment rights to speak up against causes for which she has knowledge, wisdom and experience.  The sad part is that she has to rely on an Internet social network, Facebook, to express her First Amendment rights.  This platform is the only way she has of getting her words, thoughts and ideas to the general public.  It is a given that if it doesn’t involve someone maligning Sarah Palin, nothing she says will be covered by the ONP – Obama National Press. ENTER SARAH PALIN – EXIT THE DRAGON

Published August 25th, 2009 in Political Thoughts, Uncategorized | No Comments »

It is not my intention to make judgments as to the truth or falsehood of the policy or intention of my subject; or to equate the present administration with the wisdom or ignorance of the past. I think it is important that we all understand the root of why so many of us are frightened by the suggestion of changing America from the Democratic Republic we have been blessed to live in for our entire lives or that legal immigrants made a choice to live in for the rest of theirs. You must clearly understand that these are my personal opinions and I represent no other person, group or organization as I write this. You also need to know that I am not now, nor have I ever been a member of any political party.
